N-MFP1 vs. N-MFP2

The next N-MFP filing due for money market funds must be submitted to the EDGAR System on the new form, Form N-MFP2. This new version of the form became effective on October 14, 2016.


We’ll lay out the differences between Form N-MFP1 and Form N-MFP2 so you can be prepared for your next filing in November.

Item C.9 Asked for the security’s rating Asks whether a security is an eligible security (a security that has been determined to present minimal credit risks)
Item C.10 (Designated NRSRO(s)) Filers were required to disclose the name of each “designated NRSRO” and its rating for each portfolio security and demand feature, guarantor or other enhancement associated with the security* Filers are required to disclose the name and rating for NRSRO ratings that are being taken into consideration by the fund’s board (or its delegate) when making its minimal credit risks determination

*  In 2010, the SEC staff issued a no-action letter to the effect that the staff would not object if a fund did not designate NRSROs.


A preview version of Form N-MFP2 was released in version 4.15a of GoFiler Complete and GoMFP. The final version of this form will be available in version 4.15c (slated for release on October 24th).
