Granted, it’s not the first thing you rush to do when there’s a change with the contact information at your company, but keeping the SEC abreast of such changes is an important task that often gets overlooked. The contact information you or your company has provided to the EDGAR System is what the SEC staff uses to communicate with you about the status of your filings. If this information is not up to date, there could be an unnecessary delay while the SEC attempts to find a way to contact you or someone at your company who is knowledgeable about your EDGAR filings.

The Importance of Maintaining Your EDGAR Information
The contact information you keep with EDGAR is pretty straightforward: general information about you or your company (including the name, mailing address, and phone number) as well as information about the business (such as a DBA name, business address, state of incorporation, SIC code, and FYE) and about the primary EDGAR contact (who should be contacted with EDGAR inquiries) and a contact for EDGAR account information and billing.
You can keep this information up to date by logging into your EDGAR account. Here’s some simple steps you can use to access this information and edit it, if necessary:
- Log into EDGAR at: https://www.edgarfiling.sec.gov/Welcome/EDGARLogin.htm.
- Click the Retrieve/Edit Data link under the Information Exchange area on the left navigation bar. You will need to re-enter your CIK/CCC combination to continue. Note that if you have not chosen a passphrase, you will be asked to do this upon entering your CIK/CCC.
- Click the Retrieve Company Information link. Your information will then appear.
- Press the Edit Company Information button at the bottom of the page.
- Make any necessary changes and press the Submit Changes button.
Your new contact information will then be saved with EDGAR.
The e-mail address that is provided with EDGAR will be used for all EDGAR-related communications, so it’s important that you keep that information up to date. Also remember that information stored with EDGAR like your mailing address and your billing address will be made available to the public, so be sure to maintain it carefully.
