Overview
The GetComputerName function returns information about the workstation, computer, or disk image on which the script is executing.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
string = GetComputerName ( [int mode] );
Parameters
mode
An optional int specifying whether to get the computer name (0), the domain name (1) or qualified domain name (2). The default is computer name.
Return Value
Returns a string containing the name information or an empty string on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information.
Remarks
The GetComputerName function returns information about the system on which the script is executing. For example:
string c_name, d_name, q_name;
c_name = GetComputerName();
d_name = GetComputerName(1);
q_name = GetComputerName(2);
AddMessage("Computer Name : %s", c_name);
AddMessage("Domain Name : %s", d_name);
AddMessage("Qualified Name : %s", q_name);
This code results in (actual returned data depends on the computer and network):
Computer Name : I7-4930
Domain Name : mynetwork.int
Qualified Name : i7-4930.mynetwork.int
