Chapter Six — File Functions (continued)
Overview
The DeleteFile function will delete a file from the specified folder. The file may be specified by a name or handle.
Syntax/Parameters
Syntax
int = DeleteFile ( mixed file );
Parameters
file
A string containing a qualified file name and path. This parameter supports UTF encoding for filenames with Unicode characters. Or,
a handle, such as one opened with the OpenFile or CreateFile functions.
Return Value
Returns an int as ERROR_NONE or a formatted error code on failure. Use the GetLastError function to retrieve error information. Error codes match Windows system error codes (for a list, see the Appendix A — Legato SDK Standard Definitions or MSDN).
Remarks
Passing the DeleteFile function an open file handle will also result in that handle being closed upon successful deletion of the associated file. If the file parameter contains an invalid handle, the GetLastError function will return ERROR_INVALID_FILE.
